Hello from Father Michael, Deacon Vince, Sister Kathleen, Danielle and the Parish Office!
Arrangements during the Archdiocese clergy Retreat
Father Michael will be on Retreat this week and back for the weekend Masses. Communion services will be held at the times scheduled for our midweek Masses.
St Jude presbytery update: meeting on Monday, 20 November, at 4.30pm at St Jude church
Father Michael will be leading a site inspection and meeting to discuss the future of the presbytery.
The Parish Pastoral Council has offered the following statement:
The PPC, Finance and Building Committees have been in consultation with Fr Michael and the Archbishop's office regarding the redevelopment of the St Jude's Presbytery. The presbytery has been uninhabited for many years and is in a state of disrepair: in fact, we have had many thefts of Vinnies goods and recently have had squatters.
To renovate and occupy this space has been a priority for the PPC for many years. The Finance Committee, after much consultation and deliberation of the two proposals put forward, will be recommending that, in the medium term, the Syro-Malabar Community proposal will be the preferred option for the use of the Presbytery whilst the much longer-term future of the Presbytery is decided.
The outcome of this decision is that the Presbytery will get the long overdue renovation that is required and the additional income stream will be able to pay for the renovations. While dialogue with both parties is taking place, we would like to invite any interested parishioners to a meeting at the presbytery on site at St Jude's from 4:30pm on Monday 20 November. It will be an opportunity for you to have a look at the current state of the presbytery and to
provide you with further information.
The decision to rent out our vacant building to a community group is a positive step toward fulfilling our mission as a parish. We are excited about the possibilities it brings and look forward to the many ways it will enrich our parish life and outreach efforts.
We remember our saints and souls in November
The parish November Remembrance book is in the foyers of our two churches. If you'd like to record the name of a deceased family member or friend, you are welcome to do so. Throughout November, we pray specifically at our Masses or everyone whose name is in the book or who has been recorded in previous years.
If you would like Father Michael to offer a Mass for someone who has died, please collect an offering envelope from the foyer of the churches or contact the Parish Office.
Father Michael will bless the statue of Our Lady at St John Vianney church on Sunday, 26 November
Father Michael will bless the statue after the 9am Sunday Mass and looks forward to seeing you there as we honour our Blessed Mother.
The Parish Christmas Party will be held on Friday, 8 December, at St Jude's school
The party will start at 5.30pm. Register using the sheets in the church foyers or email the parish office.
The Second Rite of Reconciliation will be celebrated on Wednesday, 13 December, at St John Vianney church
The Rite will be celebrated at 7pm, with parishioners from North Woden and South Woden joining us.
The Parish Video Prayer Circle
The Circle is a project in which parishioners get together after a weekday Mass and join in several prayers. We film the session and send the video to parishioners who are homebound or in care. The aim is to let them be back in the church and back with the community for a little while.
If you have a relative or friend who might be interested in trying the Circle, let them know and contact the office with their email address or mobile number. It's absolutely a no obligation trial!
